The popular five-mile event welcomes runners of all abilities, from experienced competitors chasing a new personal best to those stepping up from their first 5K and looking for their next challenge.
The route takes runners through the countryside around Overton, featuring rolling hills, sweeping views and scenery once enjoyed by author Jane Austen. Much of the course is held on closed roads, helping to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for competitors.
Organisers are also highlighting the event’s commitment to reducing waste and making the race as environmentally friendly as possible. Runners will receive a unique memento when they cross the finish line.
The main race gets underway at 10.30am, with race numbers available for collection from Race HQ between 8.30am and 10.15am. Transfers will be available until 4th September.
The annual children’s race will take place immediately before the main event, with youngsters under the age of 15 invited to take part for free.
Children should register at the ORC by 9.15am, with the races getting underway at 9.30am. Entrants will be divided into age groups on the day, with medals, cheering and a big finish line promised for all participants.
Runners taking part in the main race are reminded that headphones are not permitted, except where they are medically prescribed.
Competitors can also receive their official chip time by SMS, provided they supply a mobile number and give consent.
The Overton 5 is being run under UK Athletics Rules, with UKA licence number 31291.
With fast racing, a challenging countryside route and plenty of support along the way, organisers say the Overton 5 is set to be a memorable day for runners and spectators alike.
