Overton Cricket Club Enjoys Winning Weekend as First and Second Elevens Triumph

It was a successful Saturday for Overton Cricket Club, with both the first and second elevens recording impressive victories, while the third eleven endured a tougher afternoon against strong opposition.

The first eleven claimed a solid 12-run win over Tichborne Park Cricket Club after being bowled out for 197. A fine innings from Sam Galvin led the way, with 71 runs helping Overton post a competitive total.

In reply, Tichborne Park battled hard but were eventually dismissed for 185, handing Overton a well-earned victory and valuable points.

There was more success for the second eleven, who produced a composed run chase to beat Ashford Hill Cricket Club by three wickets.

Ashford Hill posted a challenging 221 for 5 from their 40 overs, setting Overton a demanding target. But strong batting performances from Tony Glass, who made 71, and Aaron Brown, who added 67, helped guide Overton to 224 for 7 with more than two overs remaining.

It proved a more difficult day for the third eleven, who were beaten by eight wickets by Hungerford Cricket Club.

Overton were bowled out for 163, despite a determined knock of 69 from Stephen Wood. Hungerford made light work of the chase, reaching 166 for 2 inside 32 overs to seal victory.
