The closure is expected to last for the duration of the day, with the road reopening later that evening once the works are complete.
A diversion route will be in place via Watch Lane, and motorists are being urged to follow the official signs to avoid delays or confusion. The closure is being implemented to allow crews to complete the work safely and efficiently.
Despite the closure, local access will be maintained to nearby businesses and attractions. Hardy’s Cottage Garden Plants and The Watership Down pub will both remain open as usual, with customers able to reach them via the diversion route.
